Hopkins Communications is ‘in the running’ for the national Public Relations Institute of Ireland Awards for Excellence in PR, with their 2017 Campaign for the Cork City Marathon entitled ‘More than a Marathon’.
Monday, 14th May 2018: On Friday last, Cork-based family-run marketing communications agency, Hopkins Communications, rang the good-news bell to deliver that ‘Friday feeling’ to their staff. They were informed by the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) that they had been shortlisted for the 2018 Award for Excellence in Public Relations.
The Awards for Excellence in Public Relations is the beacon for best practice in Irish public relations and communications. Award winners set the benchmark for work within the PR sector and showcase the best the profession has to offer. Hopkins Communications 2017 Irish Examiner Cork City Marathon, ‘More than a Marathon’ campaign, implemented on behalf of Cork City Council, was submitted in the category Best PR For An Event. Only two Cork-based agencies were shortlisted for these prestigious awards, which showcase the best the PR profession has to offer.
For the shortlisted campaign, Hopkins Communications worked with Cork City Council to position the 2017 Irish Examiner Cork City Marathon as ‘More than a Marathon’ and to promote and drive entries to this momentous race by utilising a strong integrated PR and Social Media campaign which sought to inspire and join participants on their marathon journey. The word marathon can be off-putting for recreational runners, but the Irish Examiner Cork City Marathon has worked hard to keep inclusivity as a key objective and has race categories to suit all levels with Full, Half Marathon, Team Relay and Youth Challenge options available. It was the task of Hopkins Communications to ensure potential participants saw past the event name and positioned the Cork City Marathon as more than a marathon.
